Project Overview

Project Development

Currently the project is in the planning phase. There are several sub-phases or milestones within the project planning phase including: (a) scoping, the current phase; (b) alternative development and analysis; (c) Draft Environmental Assessment; and (d) Final Environmental Assessment, where the preferred alternative is identified. The planning phase typically takes 2 to 3 years to complete.

At the completion of the planning phase the project will enter the final design phase. In the final design phase an engineering team will take the "conceptual" design developed during the planning phase and generate plans and specifications that potential contractors can use as the basis for bids. The final design phase typically takes 1 to 1.5 years to complete, but can vary significantly depending on the components of the preferred alternative.

Once a contractor is selected construction of the project can begin. The duration of construction can vary widely depending on the preferred alternative.
